John Good is known for engineering some of the most sonically beautiful drums in history, and the DW Pure Tasmanian Timber kit is no exception. The shells are made from plied Australian blackwood and topped off with a brilliant black sassafras exotic finish. The Candy Black-to-Natural Laquer burst and black nickel hardware complete the look of this gorgeous drum kit. If you're looking for a warm, punchy kit that has natural power in the lower frequencies, this kit is for you. DW has only built 200 of these sets, and each one is numbered and signed.

Cold and covered in mud, in the dead of the Australian winter, DW's John Good first discovered Tasmanian blackwood: the heart and soul of the limited-edition DW Collector's Series Pure Tasmanian Timber snare drum. All woods in this snare, including the exotic black sassafras finish ply, come straight from the Australian outback. "This one has got a personality that we've never heard," says John. "We can talk all day about it looking pretty, but [the Australian tonewoods] really lent themselves to a unique sounding drum shell."
